We know that selecting a school is a huge decision and one that is especially challenging under the restrictions imposed by the current pandemic. Let us assure you that our Invictus campus is well suited for safety with our excellent ventilation, new AC, ongoing sanitization and masking protocols. We have a strong "Independent Study" program for kids to attend virtual classes in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak or exposure resulting in quarantine requirements. We are abiding by all CDC guidelines and CA mandates. You can read more about our safe return to in-person learning here.

Top 10 Reasons to Choose Invictus

While there are many schools to choose from, Invictus has a unique mission of preparing 100% of students to thrive in the college of their choice, solve real world problems and communicate with confidence. We guide and support every student and believe that each individual has what it takes to attain both a high level of academic success and emotional learning.

Below are the top 10 reasons to choose Invictus. Our team would be happy to connect with you by phone at 510-994-0888 if you have questions or need more information.

1. Consistently Excellent Teachers

One of the things that makes Invictus stand out from other high school options is our high quality teachers. Our teachers get over 250 hours of professional development in instruction, classroom culture and management, and operations training.

2. Safe, Structured, Joyful Culture

In our most recent survey, 98%+ of students and families said they feel Invictus is a safe school. We celebrate student successes and work with restorative practices to make student mistakes a growth experience.

3. Systems of Support

We have in-depth systems to support students in their courses, ensuring they learn and integrate the studied material. Our systems of support focus on academics as well as social and emotional learning, building trust, safety, and fostering meaningful relationships.

4. Personalized Learning

We have a robust Student Support Team which provides additional help to students who need it during class. Our students participate in a personalized learning period each day, during which they receive extra support in math and reading.

5. Rolling Admissions

We encourage families to reach out to us and explore enrollment options at Invictus. We understand that changing schools can be a challenge but we see first hand what a “right fit” school can do for a student that may not be thriving elsewhere. We will do everything we can to make your student’s school transition run smoothly.

6. Extracurriculars and Clubs

All of our teachers lead an extracurricular club, bringing their passions and personal interests to share with students. We believe students are enriched by participating in extracurricular activities therefore we include a Club Period in our school day so all students can participate in one.

7. Representative Teaching Staff

Many of the teachers and staff at Invictus grew up in the Richmond area and can relate to their students' experience both inside and outside of school. They look like our students or they may have a shared life experience as some of the students, both of which build a better foundation for relationships.

8. Invictus Family Meetings

We consider everyone at Invictus part of our family. On Friday afternoons, we gather in the outdoor courtyard for our “Family Meeting” -- a weekly celebration to honor one student from each grade and one staff member. A student is nominated and voted through by staff based on anything from academic success, achieving a specific goal, demonstrated effort, or emotional / personal growth.

9. Parent Partnership

We believe in frequent communication with parents. Our staff reaches out to parents with both positive and constructive calls to inform them about their student’s progress. Each week, we send home a report for parents with grades, behavior data, and a personal note to ensure that parents are up to date on their child’s performance at school.

10. Rigorous Academics and Extended Day

Our school’s North Star is academic achievement, and we believe in purposeful structure to support students’ academic growth. We have selected curricula used by the top performing schools in the country, and adapt it to meet our students where they are. We offer an extended school day (8:30am - 3:45pm) so students can access and master rigorous content as well as participate in an extracurricular club while in school.

A Place To Belong

As a public school, we are open to all students regardless of income level, previous academic performance, and/or special needs. There is no tuition, entrance exam, or other admissions requirements.
