Our High Quality Teachers

At Invictus Academy of Richmond, one of our top priorities is investing in teachers. Laying the foundation for great education this way is absolutely paying off:

  • 99% of our students believe their teachers have a strong understanding of class content

  • 98% of our students believe their teachers have high expectations for them

  • 95% of our students believe their teachers care about them as a people

We measure our results by our students, and we get there by providing high-quality teachers.  Our teachers are recruited nationwide and quickly become family to us. 100% of Invictus staff feel someone at work cares about them as a person, not just as a professional. That said, we are highly professional and care about ongoing improvement for everyone. Our teachers focus over 250 hours on professional development every year, refining skills and training in methods of instruction, management, classroom culture, and operations.

Connection is the key

When people feel connected to and supported by one another, they are more able to offer their best in all they do. Our teachers each have a dedicated coach who provides feedback through classroom observations. Every week they meet for direct coaching to enable the teacher’s continuous improvement. This layer of support creates a truly positive environment for learning and sets our teachers apart with that added attention to detail that we call “being extra.”

Every Friday at Invictus, we celebrate the outstanding Teacher and Student of the week. We call these times our Family Meeting because connection is key to so many things here, and we consider each other to be family. This sets us up for a truly safe and inclusive space where we watch out for each other in ways that far exceed simple classroom etiquette. Our teachers are dedicated to empowering each student to step forward in life and lead. By celebrating together every week, we build strong bonds that unlock greater learning potential and create amazing outcomes.

Discourse is the way

At the start of 7th grade, every student takes a Speech and Debate course, designed to encourage habits of discourse and set students up to leverage those skills through all their interactions and in all of their classes. This is such a far cry from generations past that were told “children are meant to be seen and not heard.” It takes strong, confident, and open-minded teachers to set a baseline like this, and we continually see a far-reaching positive impact.

Our teachers thrive on helping students reach their goals and set new ones they had previously thought impossible. Their intention is to see students actively respond to challenges, use discourse to synthesize and build ideas, and express their opinions while showing respect to others. With this level of connection and support, we repeatedly create amazing outcomes. Learn more and take the steps to get your student enrolled with us .
